Portal Fever Hits Hong Kong NOW Hong Kong's Pacific Century Cyberworks (PCCW) hit the competitive China portal market with a vertical Internet portal, or "vortal," called NOW.com that seeks to attract both desktop PC-users with living room TV-watchers. In a week when Beijing-based Netease.com becomes the third Chinese Web portal to list on the NASDAQ exchange, the launch of Now.com signals the intent of Hong Kong-based Internet players to play catch-up. The CNNIC (China Internet Network Information Center) reports are released twice a year, and are currently the most authoritative source of statistical information on Internet use in China.
