  • Energy Conversion Devices(Nasdaq: ENER) This Troy, Michigan company provides equipment to convert rare earth minerals in the Baiyuenbo Mines of Inner Mongolia into battery materials. The mines are thought to contain up to half the world's known rare earth mineral deposits.

  • Composite Automobile Research Ltd. (OTCBB: CARH) The company makes a rugged, pickup-truck-like utility vehicle for US$7,000 and says China is its future.

  • iBasis (NasdaqNM: IBAS) This Silicon Valley company provides wholesale internet telephony services. Robertson Stephens, the investment bank, recently forecast 25% quarterly growth for the company based on increase demand in China.

  • iPix (NasdaqNM: IPIX) The company makes software to deliver motion pictures, moving pictsures, and other visual content over the Internet. The company opened a Beijing office in May and said it expected China's Internet picture market to grow explosively.

  • Calcol Inc. (OTCBB: CLCL) The former soft drink maker signed an MOU with Beijing Chinawave Business Network to create "an Internet media network in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and other major markets in China."
